How to count coins using the Touch Math method:
- Refer to the photo of coins marked with “touch points.”
- Review. Each touch point on coins is counted by 5.
- The quarter has 5 touch points and should be counted starting at the upper left, then upper right, then lower left, lower right, then center. “5, 10, 15, 20, 25.”
- The dime has 2 touch points and should be counted starting at the top then the bottom. “5, 10.”
- The nickel has one touch point and should be counted by touching only the center. “5.”
- The penny should be counted last. The penny has a line under it. Add on pennies at the end.
